I challenge you to conduct a brainstorming session with your team members to generate your list of advantages/disadvantages. When you’re finished ask, “Do you like what you learned from the list of disadvantages?”

I’m currently working within the agriculture community with implement dealerships. I’ve heard numerous stories of dealerships purchasing their competitors whose business has declined. What is the root cause of the decline? My guess is leadership who tried to accept the status quo which deteriorated to mediocrity and sometimes worse.

Let’s complete our diagnostic work and look at the advantages/disadvantages associated with creating a workplace that challenges the status quo.

Disadvantages Advantages

Complete necessary personal work. Takes advantage of the people capitol.

Takes time to engage employees. Generates better ideas.

Requires putting forth an effort. Improves morale, production, and profitability.

Team members have challenging work to improve their skill sets.

The team/company is more competitive in the market place.
